The last few days have been very cold with up to 5 degrees of frost experienced. In spite of this there has been some activity. The Dunnocks are still a regular sight along with the resident Robin, House Sparrows and Wren. Even though we have had this very cold snap, today which was sunny and crisp, a White Tailed Bumble Bee was feeding from Winter Jasmine and a Honey Bee (laden with pollen) Drone Fly and a small hoverfly was on the the now frost damaged Ivy. Crows, rooks and a magpies continue to show and their are more starlings than before. On 2 consecutive days I have had Collared Doves either in the garden or next door. Blackbirds are feeding regularly on the pyracantha and holly Berries in the front garden. at times in the past I have seen Fieldfare and Redwing on these.
